Grant Provides Best-selling K-5 Guidance Curriculum to One School Each Week in February
San Francisco, CA– January 26, 2011 – Cerebellum Corporation, the producer and distributor of the award-winning Standard Deviants videos, is offering the second round of the Kelso’s Choice Grant program. Originally launched in November 2011, this latest grant will award one school in need a 4th Edition Kelso’s Choice Conflict Management Skills curriculum kit each week in the month of February.
Led by Kelso the Frog, a child-friendly frog that guides students through the lessons, the Kelso’s Choice curriculum presents nine options students can use to resolve minor conflicts. By using the curriculum, students are able to determine the difference between problems they can handle on their own and problems that require an adult’s help.
Elementary schools or institutions with limited funding and those experiencing incidences of classroom disturbances, tattling, student-to-student harassment, friendship conflicts and students with an overall need for empathy and communication skills are encouraged to apply for this grant. The Kelso’s Choice Grant is a competitive nationwide grant program with recipients chosen by a committee based on the financial need of the school or institution, as well as the severity of social issues its students are displaying.
“Conflict management skills act as a preventive tool for bullying and have a direct hand in a students’ social success,” said James Rena, President of Cerebellum Corporation. “This grant provides the opportunity for educators in high-poverty schools, homeschool institutions and counseling centers to receive and implement the curriculum when they previously would not have been able to do so. We have seen the successful results of this curriculum and feel it is important to make it accessible to those schools that need it most.”
Individuals can apply now for the Kelso’s Choice grant by submitting a one-page letter to the Kelso’s Choice Grant Committee via email to customerservice@kelsoschoice.com or by making a post on the Kelso’s Choice Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kelsos-Choice/154814201238590?sk=wall. Grant winners will be announced each Monday in February.
