Accelify Announces Acquisition of Special Education Information System
Accelify, LLC — Monday, May 16, 2011
STOCKTON, Calif., May 16, 2011/via PRNewswire/ -- Accelify, LLC announced today the acquisition of Special Education Information System (SEIS), the leading IEP management system in the state of California. SEIS was developed by the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) and its Center for Educational Development and Research (CEDR) department. Since its launch in 2003, it has proven to be an effective tool for managing the IEP development process for both teachers and administrators, including 89 SELPAs and over 850 school districts across the state of California.
"The San Joaquin County Office of Education and CEDR Systems had been searching for a corporate partner that would allow us to devote more resources to continue to enhance this successful program. Additionally, many districts and SELPAs were ready to take advantage of this program but additional implementation resources were necessary to provide near term availability," said Dr. Mick Founts, SJCOE Superintendent of Schools. "With Accelify's management expertise and superior technology solutions we can now provide enhanced customer support, quicker implementation, and more of the features that our clients have been asking for. We are very excited about the possibilities that this partnership brings."
As part of the purchase, existing SJCOE/CEDR staff will continue to manage the SEIS program for at least the next two years. Customers will also retain all the rights under their existing contracts.
"California schools have embraced the SEIS program and made it the most widely used system in the state. We are thrilled to be chosen by SJCOE/CEDR to help further enhance the program," said Alex Brecher, CEO of Accelify. "We share the same service orientation as SEIS and customers can expect the same or increased levels of services and resources, as well as significant product enhancements in the coming months."
San Joaquin County Office of Education is a regional agency whose mission is to provide educational leadership, resources, and service to assist school districts to be effective facilities of learning for all pupils. True to this mission, SJCOE reaches out by creating partnerships with local districts, regional programs, community members, business, and State/Federal government to provide services and programs that would otherwise be impossible. The County Office is recognized for the educational leadership it provides to local districts and throughout California with a successful track record of bringing innovative solutions to educational issues both inside and outside the classroom.
The Center for Educational Development and Research (CEDR), a department of the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE), was established in 2000 to operate ED-JOIN and develop and support efficient, scalable, and standardized data management applications for many of the 30+ departments and programs at the SJCOE. The success of these applications reached other counties and districts with similar departments and programs, and was eventually offered outside San Joaquin County. CEDR now develops, supports, and hosts a broad range of web applications that take full advantage of the latest advances in Internet Technology for over, 20,000 schools, 1,000 school districts, 62 SELPAs and 57 county offices. Operating as a non-profit department of the SJCOE, CEDR is able to pass cost savings on to its clients (public education), while being self-supporting.
