Purchase College Chooses Banner Digital Campus

College Is 44th Member of SUNY System To License the Banner Administrative System

MALVERN, Pa, January 18, 2012 – Purchase College, State University of New York , has licensed the Banner Digital Campus to help inform student success initiatives and streamline administrative processes while improving operational efficiencies.  The College joins 43 other institutions within the SUNY system that run their digital campus environments with Banner.

“We are making this investment as part of our institutional strategic plan to increase student learning and success, to become more efficient and to grow a sustainable digital campus,” said Barbara Moore, project manager at the College.  “This is a college-wide initiative that will support the entire community.”

“Banner will help support student learning and success by providing accurate data more efficiently and easily,” said Dennis Craig, vice president, associate provost of Enrollment Management and Integrated Marketing.  “Our goal is to serve and retain our students.  In order to successfully advise them, we need access to information and we need more efficient processes.”

The College also plans to use Banner to help:

  • Rethink and reengineer business processes through business process analysis in an effort to gain greater efficiency and services.
  • Bring useful technology to the fingertips of students, faculty and staff through self-service functionality, providing more immediate service and information.
  • Streamline operations and reporting through the integration of the various modules and the shared database.
  • Align technology with the College’s long-range strategic initiatives.
  • Improve systematic institutional assessment as well as academic program assessment.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration.

The College also will benefit by sharing resources and support with other SUNY schools using the Banner system.  The SUNY Banner schools are supported by the Student Information & Campus Administrative Systems (SICAS) Center which supports the administrative software, service and training needs for campuses using SunGard Higher Education solutions.

“Being part of the large Banner SUNY community will give us access to best practices and shared resources, helping us maximize our investment,” said Craig.  “And the SUNY system as a whole gains because of the efficiencies that are created across the multiple campuses.”

“We are pleased to expand and strengthen our relationship with the SUNY system, and are eager to extend the system-wide benefits to Purchase College,” said Bruce Bleiman, senior vice president, customer relationships, SunGard Higher Education.  “We look forward to helping Purchase College rethink and reengineer its administrative processes and systems in support of its renowned dedication to academic excellence in the arts and the liberal arts.”
