Readiness Scales Support Successful Entry into Kindergarten

TUCSON, AZ/January 14, 2014--Assessment Technology Incorporated (ATI) releases the Galileo School Readiness Scales for ages birth to 3 for documenting the emerging kindergarten readiness of young children.

Children's school readiness including possessing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for success in school and life has gained national attention. The Galileo School Readiness Scales, now available birth through five years, are part of the ATI school readiness initiative and are designed to assist early childhood educators in their efforts to ensure that children are ready to enter kindergarten.

The credible, meaningful, and actionable data on children's learning and development derived from Galileo can effectively inform decision-making related to school readiness in five essential areas of learning and development: Cognition and General Knowledge, Language and Literacy, Approaches to Learning, Social and Emotional Development, and Physical Development and Health.

The Galileo School Readiness Scales consist of capabilities from the essential areas of learning and development reflected in the Galileo assessment scales. The capabilities on the Galileo School Readiness Scales reflect valued school readiness goals that preschool programs may use to report the progress their children are making in getting ready for successful entry into kindergarten.
