Danville VA Chooses Pearson as School Turnaround Partner

Customized School Improvement Plan To Help Students at John M. Langston Focus School
New York, NY (via PRWEB) September 15, 2010 -- Danville Public School District in southern Virginia has contracted with the education services and technology company Pearson for comprehensive school turnaround services to improve student performance at John M. Langston Focus School.
The Langston Focus School is one of 19 schools in Virginia that have been selected by the Virginia Department of Education to receive school improvement grants. Throughout the country there are more than 5,000 schools identified for this category of funding. Earlier this year, Virginia was awarded nearly $60 million in school improvement grants from the US Department of Education.
Dr. Sue Davis, Danville Division Superintendent said, "We have had many serious discussions with the experts at Pearson K-12 Solutions about our unique challenges and the opportunities and futures we want for our students. We know that Pearson has the experience and expertise to help us dramatically improve teaching and learning here at Langston." She added, "We are ready for the hard work ahead of us, and we are ready to make the changes that are necessary to ensure that our students are successful. We want to have confidence that they will be headed down the road for success when they graduate."
