NBC Learn Launches the “Decision 2012” Collection

Collection To Support Student Learning and Engagement Around the Upcoming Presidential Election

NEW YORK, NY—Nov. 7, 2011— With one year to go until the next presidential election, NBC Learn has launched “Decision 2012”—a new special collection designed to help students research and analyze the 2012 election based on the candidates, the major issues, the calendar of events, and the process behind the campaigns. This robust collection of NBC News reports and stories will be continually updated every weekday through the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.

From President Obama to Mitt Romney, Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann, teachers and students will be able to look up candidate profiles to learn more about each leader’s background, experiences and stance on the issues. Students will also be able to research policies and issues that are important to voters, such as the economy and jobs, education, national security, immigration and healthcare. The collection lays out the calendar of debates, conventions, the selection of Vice President and the timing of the general election and Presidential transition, and digs deep into the political process, including political advertisements, polls and voting trends, campaign finance and the Electoral College.

“Elections are the fuel that drives America’s political process and a foundation upon which this country was built. We hope teachers use the “Decision 2012” collection to help inform and engage students in politics early on, as they are our future electorate and our future leaders,” said Soraya Gage, Executive Producer of NBC Learn.
